There is nothing more comforting than a nice Irish granny.

I have to say a few words on this fact, because (and yes we all know it), there is something quite euphoric about visiting a cosy, old granny's house for a while. My rave on this fact comes from a short visit I paid to my friend's granny out in the more "countryish" side of my town - and let me tell you , it was lovely!( I myself have two Grannies at the moment, but old age has rusted their granny-powers just a tad.) We walked into the cutest smallest, warmest, most plush room I have been in ever. Everything was either soft carpet, patterned curtains, teacups, knitted, the works. (I swear I was ready to see a basket of kittens and yarn) The friend's traditional Irish granny bustled over filling her doily embroidered tea-table with scones, tea-cakes, cakes, biscuits, and anything that would make us feel like we were sitting in the start of a Disney movie. It was lush. And even as we sat there discussing trivial local news, or insignificant facts about something that flashed across her telly - our visit meant the world to her. I could tell from the jolly smile on her face and her strive to make our stay as comfortable as ever, that she would have sat there with us all night, having the craic and the banter, like old times. It was the sentimental value and comfort that we all felt in that warm, safe, cosy room during that vist, which really made me appreciate my own Grandparents, and at one point, I even felt envious of my friend's relationship. Nevertheless - I learnt an important lesson - visit Granny more often = more pocket money... jokes... I think I would want to visit them just to feel the exact same way I did at my friends.
